Implant Restoration
Tooth loss can have a very big impact on your life. It becomes more difficult to eat and speak properly, even your oral health can be affected. If you go without teeth long enough, your jawbone will begin to resorb, changing the shape of your face. Dental implants are considered to be the best solution to tooth loss. We are happy to offer dental implants to our patients, greatly improving their quality of life.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium rods that are surgically placed into your jawbone. These rods are left to fuse with your bone and act as the roots that support prosthetic teeth. Multiple implants can be placed in your jaw to support an entire arch of teeth. Implants offer several benefits:

•  Teeth sit on the implant, rather than your gums, making them more comfortable.
•  There is less maintenance involved, as permanently fixed prosthetic teeth do not need to be removed. They can be cared for like natural teeth.
•  Because they are permanent, they will not slip out of place.
•  The titanium rods act as roots, and stimulate the jawbone. This slows and even stops bone loss. You jaw will not lose its shape and you won't need to be fit for a new prosthesis.

The Procedure

Dental implant surgery in Las Vegas, NV.On the day of your surgery, you will receive anesthesia. The method used is chosen by you and Dr. Falk or Dr. Moody prior to the procedure. An incision is made in your gums and your bone prepared, creating a space for the implant. The very top of the implant is visible through the gum. Molds of your mouth are taken and sent off to a lab in order to create your permanent teeth. Abutments, which are used to hold your prosthetic teeth in place, are placed on the implants. The amount of time needed for your implants depends upon how many you are having placed.

We won't send you home without teeth. While you wait for your permanent teeth to be made, we will provide you with a set of temporary teeth, so that you are able to go about your normal life. When your permanent teeth are ready, you will come back into the office so that we can ensure they fit properly and secure them in place.

Healing from dental implant surgery can be a lengthy process, taking anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. In the beginning, you will most likely experience some discomfort and swelling. Pain medications can help ease the discomfort and ice can minimize swelling. Limiting activities and resting can also reduce these issues. It is also recommended that you eat a diet of soft, nutritious foods. You can gradually ease back into your normal habits.

While you heal, you will also come back to the office occasionally so that one of our dentists can check on the progress of your implants and make sure that they are fusing properly.
