Balloon Assisted Septoplasty
Balloon septoplasty is a minimally invasive in-office procedure designed to treat a deviated septum. The surgery begins by inserting a balloon into either nostril and positioning it against the deviated septum. The balloon is then inflated, deflated, and extracted. This process is repeated on the opposite side and as necessary to realign the septum to a central position. Balloon septoplasty can be conducted concurrently with other nasal surgeries, such as balloon sinuplasty, polyp removal, turbinate reduction, and rhinoplasty.
Who Needs Balloon Assisted Septoplasty?
The wall separating the left and right sections of the nasal passage is known as the septum. Composed of delicate bone and cartilage, any deviation or bending of this septum can lead to nasal blockage and various sinus issues.
Those with a deviated septum are good candidates for this minimally invasive procedure.
