There are many options to consider when choosing to replace missing teeth. Some teeth may not have fallen out yet, but should be replaced due to severe infection or damage. During your first visit, we will take 3D CBCT scans of your mouth to assess your oral health. Then, your oral surgeon will discuss your tooth replacement options. Some solutions, such as dental implants, are healthier in the long run than others. This tooth replacement solution is permanent and is the only option that fuses to the jaw bone to prevent bone loss.
Other options for replacing multiple missing teeth include:
- Full-Arch Restoration. This treatment uses multiple dental implant posts to support a fixed prosthesis. Also called the All-on-4® Treatment Concept, it allows patients to leave our office with a complete set of fully functioning, natural-looking teeth.
- Implant-Supported Bridges. Traditional fixed bridges require your healthy teeth to be reshaped to fit the bridge. Instead, dental implants can be placed and used to support the bridge, protecting your other teeth.
- Single Dental Implants. One dental implant can replace one missing tooth anywhere throughout the mouth. This includes canine teeth, front teeth, and even molars.
- Removable Dentures or Bridges. These options sit on top of your teeth to cosmetically restore your smile. Some must be removed during eating, and they all require special care and replacement every few years. Removable prostheses do not protect the jaw bone or prevent bone loss.
- No Replacement. Without a tooth root or dental implant post, the jaw bone will weaken and deteriorate over time. This leads to dental shifting, bite problems, and sagging facial features. Severe bone loss often requires complex bone repair surgery.
