Chin & Cheek Implants
Bring Harmony to the Face
Advances in medicine have made it easier than ever to use facial implants to correct unbalanced facial features and restore a natural, youthful look to the face. Biocompatible materials used in cheek and chin implants ensure our patients receive a safe and desirable outcome.
Chin Implants
A weak or receding chin may be surgically treated with a chin augmentation. When you come to Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery for a consultation about a chin implant, Dr. Falk, Dr. Moody, or Dr. Yau will review your medical history, listen to your goals for treatment, and request any diagnostic scans to create the right treatment option for you.
Chin implants are usually placed during a single procedure. The implant is specially designed to create a look that is natural and aesthetically pleasing. The size and type of chin implant will be selected by your oral surgeon to bring balance to the face. During the procedure, a small incision is made under the chin or inside the mouth to pass the implant through to the chin.
Once the implant has been placed, the surgical site is closed, and the healing process begins.
For some patients, a more extensive surgical procedure of the jaw is necessary to correct a functional issue with the jaw and treat a receding chin. Your surgeon will determine if jaw surgery is needed during your initial appointment.
Cheek Implants
Loss of definition and volume to the face is a natural part of the aging process. However, a flattened appearance can result when the midface region loses volume and is a source of anguish for many patients. Thankfully, cheek implants can restore a youthful look, enhance a flattened profile, and bring balance back to the face. Cheek implants are also used in treatment for patients experiencing a congenital defect or facial trauma.
On the day of your surgical procedure, you will be given the type of anesthesia that was discussed and selected by your oral surgeon during your first visit to our office. Once you are relaxed and comfortable, your surgeon will make a small incision for the implant to pass through. This incision is created in the mouth or the eyelid to minimize scarring. The procedure may take up to 2 hours to complete.
As with any surgical procedure, some post-operative swelling and bruising is normal. Please follow all pre- and post-operative instructions that were given to you by your oral surgeon. If you have any questions about your procedure, care, or recovery, please contact our practice.
Types of Anesthesia
Canyon Oral & Facial Surgery offers several types of anesthesia and sedation.
